Scout, beloved companion and cherished son of the Galyan family, passed peacefully surrounded by the people who loved him most on Monday October 5th, 2026. Scout entered his family’s life and very quickly became so much more than a dog. He was a constant presence in their home, a source of comfort on difficult days, a reason to laugh on ordinary ones,

and a best friend in every sense of the word.

From an early age, Scout faced significant heart problems, and his family was told that they may only have three years with him. In true Scout fashion, however, he had other plans. He continued to fight, love, play, and fill his family’s home for five beautiful years. Those extra years were a gift his family will forever be grateful for. But his absence has left a silence that feels impossibly large.

Scout leaves behind his human mom, dad, Brother Liam, and Sister Arlie who loved him beyond measure, along with a home that will never feel quite the same without him.

While five years could never have been enough, his family finds comfort in knowing that Scout no longer has to struggle, and he is finally free to run without pain. His family hopes that he knew just how deeply he was loved and that letting him go was never giving up on him. It was their final act of love. Scout was a good boy in every possible meaning of the words. 

He was our son. 

He was loved every single day of his life, and he will be loved for every single day that follows.
