Lexi Corrigan

June 13, 2014 — February 8, 2023

On February 8th, with such heavy sadness in our hearts, we had to send our beautiful Lexi over the Rainbow Bridge to her next journey…

She was such a joy to us for almost 9 years, it’s so hard with her not being here this morning.

Lexi was taken in at 2 years old by a rescue from a pound drop off the day before she was to be euthanized, she was pregnant. The next day she had 12 puppies at the rescue center! We were so fortunate to find her, she came to us after she weaned her babies and they were on their way to homes…

From the first day she came home to us, she was a part of the whole family…so gentle with my elderly mom, so easy with the babies, and played well with all the fur cousins and fur friends…(except cats…didn’t do cats! sorry Tiki!) That girl wouldn’t have a clue how to bite someone, but she could sure lick ya to death!!

Her sign of love and kisses…

Lexi did everything with us…hiking, kayaking, camping, boating, holidays, just hangin’ out on the dock…wherever she could go, she went…Her favorite thing was riding in the truck with dad, head out the window, her elbow on the armrest! He took her for rides all the time.

Being a wanderer, she would escape the yard, and go on her ‘walkabouts’ in the neighborhood. The only way we could catch her was to pull up in the truck and open the door “wanna go for a ride?” She’d jump right in!

She loved to chase squirrels (could never catch them), occasional raccoons (always a ruckus!), the geese off the lawn, and more recently, neighbor’s chickens (not so good!).

Well, we always said she was “mostly good, just like us!”

Last March, we found out she had a very aggressive cancer, she should have only lasted 2-3 months by the books…but not our girl! She was full of life and love for almost a year…

The last few weeks have been rough, but yesterday was the turning point…she was so ready to move on, and she let us know. We were not ready to give her up, but it was time.

She’s at rest now, no more pain…

I have to give a huge thanks and accolades to Salt and Light Home Visit Vet Service…by grace of God, Dr. Ashlee came out to our home on less than 2 hours’ notice and helped us send Lexi off to her next life in her favorite spot by the fireplace. We will be forever thankful.

Rest in Peace baby girl, we will forever miss you and forever keep you in our hearts. You’ll always be with us in all we do…
