Sweet sweet boy.
When you first arrived at our house in 2014, you were nothing but a 3-year-old bundle of nerves. Scared and uncertain about everything. You had been rescued from a bad situation, and we knew it would take time for you to feel safe.
We gave you time and patience, and you took that time to begin to trust us and your furry brothers. Once that trust was built, it was game on! I'll never forget when we heard a strange noise and couldn't figure out what it was, and then realized it was you barking, lol! You spent months silent and then one day you barked and shocked us all, lol! It was a sweet sound hearing you find your voice.
You made us smile with your little booty sway when you walked, the way you loved to snuggle close, how you loved to sleep on Steve's pillow above his head at night like a cat. You loved the pool deck and laying in the sun while we swam. If Steve was doing yard work, you were out supervising every move. You loved being where your people were.
You were never a big kisser, so when we were the recipient of one of your very rare licks, we all would make a big announcement: "BUCK KISSED ME!!"
Thank you for 11 years of sweetness, Lil' Buck. It's been a rough few months as you have lost your sight and hearing and energy. Thank you for giving us the time and patience to process what was happening and accept that it was our time to step up again and do the hard and right things. We love you so much. Please tell Jack and Ronnie we said hello when they meet you at the bridge.
We love you forever. Now let's go get you a pup cup and then you can go play.
